Germany tops Denmark at Worlds to reach qualification round

Philip Larsen had the lone goal for Denmark, which beat Finland in its opening

of-30 shots in the loss.
Germany and Denmark both ended Group D play with five points, enough to
guarantee each a spot in the Qualification Round.
Also Wednesday, Kaspars Daugavins had two goals in Latvia's 5-2 win over Italy
at Mannheim in a Group B contest.
Martins Karsums added a goal and assist for Latvia, which had lost its
previous two group games, but with Wednesday's victory secured a place in the
Qualification Round. Edgars Masalskis had 24 saves.
Adam Russo let in four goals on 37 shots for Italy, which finished group play
without a point and moved to the Relegation Round. Giulio Scandella and
Alexander Egger had Italy's goals.
